Job Summary
Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or tenure-track Assistant Professor in Philosophy in the School of Humanities (Ref.: 533616) to commenceinAugust or September 2026or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Philosophy. The position is open to all areas of specialization but applicants must have an interest in and commitment to pursuing teaching and research in philosophy or ethics of AI.
The appointee is expected to develop a vigorous independent research programme to excel in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development and to handle the usual non-teaching duties. Total teaching load will be three to four courses per year including introductory first-year courses. Information about the Department can be obtained at . A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary for fixed-term appointment.
