Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Geography

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect download process and analyze large-scale geospatial big data and remote sensing datasets
- Prepare technical reports presentations dashboards and data visualizations
- Perform Linux-based server administration HPC management and overall data center operations
- Collaborate with team members on interdisciplinary projects
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- A Masters degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; preferably in data science geography remote sensing GIS or related disciplines
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
- Practical skills in Linux system administration and maintenance
- Solid understanding of common remote sensing data types principles and processing workflows
- Demonstrated experience in downloading processing analyzing and visualizing remote sensing and geospatial data
- Proficiency in geospatial software such as ArcGIS QGIS or equivalents
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python MATLAB or R)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine learning deep learning and AI techniques
- Prior experience in processing satellite remote sensing data
- Experience with overall Linux data center/server room operations and maintenance
What We Offer
The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
