Job Summary

Job Goal/Summary: To serve as an instructional and administrative leader for the ACCESS Support Center to work with staff students and community to ensure a high-quality educational program and to formulate and accomplish the support centers mission.

Qualifications:

  1. Masters Degree with Alabama State Department of Education Administrative Certification
  2. Three (3) years school administration experience required
  3. Three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher (Secondary level preferred)
  4. Valid Drivers License

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Chief Academic Officer

Background Check Required: (Ala. Code 16-22a-5 ) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Strong organizational technology and communication skills
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of distance learning
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends
  4. Initiative self-reliance professional attitude and appearance are necessary attributes

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a courteous helpful cooperative attitude with personnel ALSDE and support center partners.
  2. Oversee the Recruitment hiring training and supervising of ACCESS online and VCI teachers.
  1. Supervise ACCESS budget and other recordkeeping for ACCESS grant
  2. Provide necessary support for ACCESS Teachers Principals Counselors Facilitators and Students
  3. Ensure all state reports are completed accurately and forwarded to the ALSDE in a timely manner.
  4. Serve as liaison with the Alabama State Department of Education and support center partners in reference to the ACCESS distance learning program
  5. Travel as needed to provide support training and collaboration for ACCESS stakeholders
  6. Oversee the supervision of scheduling for ACCESS students and teachers
  7. Supervise the planning and Implementation of training events for regional ACCESS Teachers Facilitators Principals and Counselors
  8. Supervise the Promotion of ACCESS at Regional and State Conferences.
  • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment: 240 days (full year)

Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
