12 month Fixed Term Contact- Until March 2027- Full Time 37 hours

A bit about the role

Glasgow GENR8 Housing Service is an outreach Housing Support provision based in Easterhouse. The service offers support to young people aged 16-26 years who are homeless at risk of homelessness or are undergoing a housing transition with which they need support. The aim of the service is to assist young people to develop the skills to independently and responsibly manage their own tenancy.

The service offers a range of practical skills including budgeting good door keeping and key life skills. Alongside the development of practical tenancy management skills workers develop a supportive nurturing relationship with young people with the aim of improving their emotional well-being confidence and independence.

Were looking for a Housing Support Practitioner who will be responsible for key working duties including engagement with service users co-ordinating supporting and maintaining written records. Youll also be required to complete initial and ongoing assessments and participate in on call duties.

Our office is based in G34 9HJ and we cover service users in the whole of Glasgow. The working hours of this role are generally office hours Mon- Fri but we require some flexibility to accommodate service users which may include occasional evenings and weekends.

How youll help to create brighter futures

  • Demonstrating a commitment to Action for Childrens defining statement keeping the child at the centre and to promote and incorporate Action for Childrens Participation Standards as appropriate to your role.
  • Developing productive professional relationships with the young people we support.
  • Undertaking assessment and action planning in partnership with Young People.
  • Achieving the highest standards of safeguarding whether through direct care provision or support activities to the children and young people who come into contact with our services or by appropriately reporting concerns about any child or young person.
  • Promoting Equality and Diversity strategy locally including linking with local equality and diversity frameworks to ensure promotion of best practice and to inform and develop appropriate action plans.

Lets talk about you

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge We are looking for someone with a can do attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • HNCSVQ in social care/equivalent qualification for housing support service or willing to work towards qualification.
  • Registered with SSSC or equivalent/ willing to work towards registration.
  • Experience in a social care setting and an understanding of the issues young adults experience who are homeless.
  • Experience in safeguarding and an understanding of risk management plans.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues experienced by young people.
  • Ability to engage with young people and build positive relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working.
