The Nurse Anesthesia Program Assistant Director is a member of the Lourdes University College of Nursing
and Social Services faculty with all the rights and responsibilities of a faculty appointment. The Assistant
Program Director assists the Program Director with ongoing curriculum and program development
implementation and evaluation of the Nurse Anesthesia Program and the day-to-day operation of the program.
This person shall be responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the program in the absence of the
Program Director. Additionally the Assistant Program Director is a member of the graduate faculty.
Appointment contract and teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Dean of Nursing in collaboration with
the Provost. Selected responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the Program Director in appropriate aspects of ongoing program development and
administration clinical affiliations and general operation.
2. Demonstrates knowledge leadership ability and academic preparation to assume all duties and
responsibilities of the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director if required.
3. Follows the University Graduate Studies policies and procedures and supports established criteria for
student Nurse Anesthesia Program admissions academic progress and graduation by:
4. Serves as mentor to students and graduate faculty in the research/scholarship addition
provides information and resources for students entering or advancing in the profession.
5. Serves on Nurse Anesthesia Program Committees and additional University and hospital committees as required by the program/University.
6. Collaborates with clinical coordinators and clinical faculty regarding clinical instruction of students to maintain the clinical requirements set by the COA. Assists with coordination of student clinical activities/instruction.
7. Serves as liaison between Nurse Anesthesia Program and Clinical Affiliations.
8. Conducts monthly audit of student case records.
9. Maintains proficiency in clinical arena.
10. Instructs/supervises/evaluates students in the didactic and clinical area.
11. Communicates regularly with the Program Director.
12. Assists in the development/evaluation of program policy and procedures.
13. Assumes leadership over the Nurse Anesthesia Program Assessment process including coordination of summative student evaluation.

1. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. A graduate of an accredited program of nurse anesthesia.
3. Holds a doctoral degree.
4. Valid current RN license and appropriate credentials (certificate of authority and certification as a
CRNA) to practice in Ohio.
5. Experience of at least three years (five years preferred) in the practice of nursing as a CRNA.
6. Current knowledge and experience in curriculum development testing and implementation of a Nurse Anesthesia Program including one year of didactic instruction in an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
7. Professional membership in the AANA
