Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a step-down unit rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility. Responsibilities include patient assessment medication administration and collaboration with CNAs/LPNs/PCAs. The role requires strong assessment and communication skills particularly with medically complex pediatric patients.
Location:Washington District of Columbia United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians therapists and other healthcare professionals.
- Supervise CNAs/LPNs/PCAs as needed.
- Document patient care and progress accurately in the charting system.
- Assist with patient feeding hygiene and mobility.
- Assist with collection of patient data and specimens.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience.
- Experience with medically complex pediatric patients.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Pediatric experience.
- CPN or pediatric rehabilitation certification.
- Experience with Cerner charting system.
Special Considerations:
- Floating within scope to similar pediatric rehab/inpatient/SNF units may be required.
- Occasional weekend shifts may be required (facility dependent).
Scheduling:
- 36 guaranteed hours per week.
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed.
