We are looking to grow our team of Artisans with a Data & Optimization Engineer.

About the Role

We are seeking a Data & Optimization Engineer to design and implement mathematical optimization models and advanced algorithms that drive efficiency and cost savings for our clients. You will focus on business challenges in the domains of logistics supply chain optimization and route planning while collaborating closely with DevOps and AI teams to ensure seamless integration into scalable production-ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop optimization algorithms (e.g. vehicle routing clustering cost minimization) to solve complex business problems.
• Build production-ready containerized Python optimization services with clear APIs.
• Translate business requirements (e.g. minimize delivery costs while meeting all customer constraints) into robust mathematical models.
• Implement and test solutions using OR-Tools or other state-of-the-art optimization frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps and AI/ML engineers to integrate models into enterprise solutions.
• Provide clear documentation including API specifications and business logic to ensure smooth knowledge transfer.
• Perform performance tuning and ensure algorithms scale efficiently in real-world scenarios.

Required Knowledge Skills and Experience

• Data Engineering: Python ETL pipelines data quality API development
• Proven expertise in Operations Research and mathematical optimization.
• Strong proficiency in Python and relevant optimization libraries (e.g. Google OR-Tools PuLP Pyomo).
• Experience designing and deploying vehicle routing or supply chain optimization solutions in production.
• Strong understanding of supply chain logistics delivery constraints and route economics.
• Ability to translate high-level business objectives into mathematical models.
• Familiarity with building clean well-tested and maintainable codebases.
• Geographic/Spatial Data: Experience with location data clustering distance calculations
• Business Logic: Can translate delivery constraints into code

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with AWS cloud services (e.g. SageMaker Lambda Step Functions) for large-scale deployments.
• Exposure to Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts is a plus.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and with DevOps pipelines.
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex models to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Operations Research Computer Science Applied Mathematics or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in data science optimization engineering or similar roles.

This position requires constant operation of a computer various software programs and other electronic productivity tools. This position requires prolonged observation of a computer screen.
