Position Summary
The Vice President (VP) of Government Grants is responsible for leading SafeNests government grant portfolio with vision strategy and accountability. This role oversees all aspects of government grant research acquisition management compliance and reporting to ensure the agency maximizes funding opportunities while meeting all regulatory and contractual requirements. The VP of Government Grants provides leadership across departments ensuring transparent communication proper documentation timely spenddowns and accurate data reporting. This executive role will play a critical part in positioning SafeNest for sustainable growth and expanded services through strong partnerships and future focused grant strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand SafeNests government funding portfolio.
- Identify new grant opportunities that align with agency priorities and emerging community needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies funders and external stakeholders.
- Represent the agency in funding calls presentations and site visits positioning SafeNest as a trusted partner.
Grant Oversight & Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of government grants from research and proposal development to award management implementation and closeout.
- Supervise and support the grant writer (contracted) and grant biller ensuring quality work timely submissions and effective collaboration.
- Partner laterally with all departments to ensure compliance accurate reporting and alignment of grant deliverables with program outcomes.
- Ensure timely spenddowns of grant funds in coordination with Finance and Program leadership.
Compliance & Reporting
- Establish systems and processes that ensure full compliance with federal state and local government funding requirements.
- Oversee timely and accurate submission of all required reports audits and documentation.
- Monitor programmatic and financial data to ensure accuracy accountability and quality performance outcomes.
- Provide clear transparent communication with internal teams and external funders regarding grant performance and compliance status.
Sexual Assault Services & Survivor Support
- Proactively identify and secure grant opportunities that expand SafeNests ability to provide sexual assault services including forensic nursing advocacy and trauma-informed care.
- Strengthen funding streams to support and grow survivor-centered services ensuring SafeNest meets the urgent needs of sexual assault survivors across Southern Nevada.
- Partner with program staff and external stakeholders to expand access points and resources helping SafeNest reach more survivors in both urban and rural communities.
- Position SafeNest as a leader in comprehensive sexual assault services through strong funding proposals compliance excellence and outcome-driven reporting.
Team Leadership & Communication
- Lead with transparency accountability and collaboration ensuring all stakeholders are informed of grant requirements and progress.
- Provide training and support to staff on grant compliance and reporting standards.
- Create an organizational culture of proactive communication and documentation related to government grant funding.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Public Administration Nonprofit Management Finance or a related field required; Masters preferred.
- Minimum 710 years of progressive experience in government grants management preferably in a nonprofit or human services setting.
- Proven success in securing and managing federal state and local government grants.
- Strong knowledge of government regulations compliance requirements and reporting standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising staff and contractors.
Exceptional organizational written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
