Job Description

Assistant Director (Student Outreach) Masters Programmes (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref: 533093) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a good bachelors degree with at least 8 years of full-time work experience mostly in the field of event and project management student outreach or a related field with good understanding of event management and student enrichment activities preferably in a tertiary institution. They should also have a solid command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) sound interpersonal and communication skills strategic thinking innovative and effective organization skills in initiating and executing plans to deliver expected quality outputs under tight deadlines; and be strong team builders and outcomes-driven leaders. They should have a professional work attitude and a high level of computer literacy are essential qualities. They should also have a passion for working with students and alumni from all backgrounds and cultures.
The Assistant Director (Student Outreach) is a pivotal role designed to enhance a sense of belonging and engagement within the facultys Virtual House system. As the Chief Housemaster the appointee will oversee the entire Virtual House system and support the development of initiatives that foster community and connection among students with responsibilities that include:
managing the overall operations and development of the Virtual House system ensuring its effectiveness in promoting student engagement and promote cultural diversity;
supervising the work of housemasters and vice housemasters providing guidance and support to help them meet their goals and objectives as well as implementing training programs for House committees to enhance their effectiveness and strengthen their sense of belonging within the community;
working closely with counsellors to enhance student bonding initiatives while liaising with students and both internal and external stakeholders to promote outreach efforts;
responsible for financial planning and budget control of the MSc Alumni and Student services team;
supervising clerical staff; and
performing other duties as assigned.
The appointee will work at the Facultys Cyberport campus and may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends and travel to overseas or Mainland China occasionally. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
