The Student Counsellor at Glenealy is integral to the pastoral care of our school maximising student wellbeing and development. You will provide essential support to ensure all students can meet their full potential aligning with our schools commitment to personalisation. An International Baccalaureate PYP school we value the holistic development of all children and we are seeking a counsellor who is committed to helping each child become the best that they can be.
The successful candidate will engage with our close community of parents and families be flexible in their therapeutic approach and collaborate extensively with staff including the School Leadership Team Learning Diversity Lead and Child Protection Leads. Collaboration and clear communication are expectations to ensure a holistic support network for our students. You will be accountable for maintaining a professional and confidential service engaging in ongoing reflection and professional supervision to continually improve the support provided to our students.
Key Responsibilities
Student Counselling & Casework:
- Provide confidential personal counselling for students (individuals and groups) and work supportively with families.
- Maintain and track case data sharing trends and insights with the Senior Management Team to inform strategic and pastoral planning.
- Maintain professional supervision for the caseload in line with ethical guidelines.
Wider Professional Roles:
- Actively participate in the school community supporting both student and staff wellbeing.
- Support the effective flow of information and training to help staff meet student needs.
- Identify and respond to trends in student needs across the school.
- Collaborate closely with staff families and external providers to build a team environment that supports student wellbeing.
Requirements
- A recognised degree in counselling or equivalent.
- Must work within a recognised counsellors Code of Ethics (including maintaining confidentiality).
- Excellent English Chinese and Cantonese skills.
- Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
