Job Description

Position Overview & General QualificationsThe Assistant Principal serves as a key member of the schools leadership team charged with advancing academic excellence nurturing a positive and inclusive school culture and ensuring a safe equitable learning environment in alignment with the Rhode Island Models standards for administrator effectiveness. This is a 12-month position that reports to the Principal.- Rhode Island Building Level Administrator PK-12 Certification- Demonstrated success in both instructional leadership and student management.- Minimum five years of successful secondary teaching experience (preferred)- Knowledge of curriculum design and assessment - Familiarity with restorative school discipline practices and attendance initiatives- Strong interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills- Ability to multitask and prioritize projects and initiatives- Capacity to effectively communicate with a diverse set of peopleKey Responsibilities:Instructional Leadership- Promotes the schools mission vision and academic goals- Helps lead instructional improvement including curriculum alignment standards-based instruction and rigorous academic programming- Uses multiple sources of student and school data to monitor performance identify trends and guide instructional decisions- Supports and coaches faculty providing leadership in instructional planning professional learning communities implementation of best practices and educator evaluationSite Management- Establishes and sustains effective organizational systems including scheduling student supervision and safety protocols ensuring efficiency and consistency across school operations- Oversees school safety and crisis management coordinating with safety officials supervising campus flow (e.g. traffic and parking) and maintaining safe learning environments- Fosters strong homeschoolcommunity connections cultivating trust and clear communication across families staff and community partnersProfessional Responsibilities- Maintains effective systems for sharing student performance dataensuring that student records are accurate updated and clearly communicated to students and families- Demonstrates and advances a deep belief that all students can learn advocating for student needs overseeing equitable interventions and supporting non-academic needs with intentional systems of support- Models professionalism and ethical leadershipupholding legal policy and equity standards; responding to safety and conduct concerns with integrity; and managing staff and community interactions in a respectful consistent manner- Engages in continuous professional growth participating in meaningful professional learning reflecting on practice collaborating with peers and using feedback to refine leadership effectiveness- Other duties as assignedPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
