Job Description

Contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
This role involves chairing child protection conferences ensuring robust safeguarding practices and engaging with children families and professionals to create effective and inclusive Child Protection Plans.
The postholder will use a strengths-based trauma-informed approach to reduce risk and promote the welfare of children while contributing to service development quality assurance and best practice within a multi-agency safeguarding context.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Chair child protection conferences ensuring they are timely inclusive and outcome-focused.
Promote and implement the Strengthening Families framework in all meetings.
Engage and represent the voice of children and young people throughout the protection planning process.
Ensure high-quality Child Protection Plans are developed distributed and monitored in line with statutory timelines.
Work collaboratively with families professionals and multi-agency partners to ensure plans progress effectively.
Participate in quality assurance processes including audits practice evaluation and service development activities.
Provide mentoring coaching and professional supervision to colleagues supporting best practice across the safeguarding team.
Uphold professional standards and ensure compliance with statutory requirements policies and procedures.
Challenge and support professional practice where necessary in a respectful and constructive manner.
Keep accurate and timely case records ensuring decisions and actions are well documented.

Skills/Experience:
Proven ability to chair complex safeguarding meetings using a strengths-based and relational approach.
Experience in child protection planning risk assessment and multi-agency safeguarding work.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage children parents and professionals.
Confident in applying trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice principles.
Skilled in conflict resolution professional challenge and collaborative problem solving.
Organised and able to prioritise workload effectively to meet statutory timescales.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation statutory guidance and best practice standards in child protection.
Ability to mentor and support others promoting reflective practice and continuous improvement.

Additional Information:
Qualified and experienced Social Worker registered with the appropriate professional body.
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday 08:45 17:15).
Enhanced DBS required.
