Description

Organization Overview:The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York Citys leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children youth and families homeless individuals and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families out-of-school and out-of-work youth and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville and seek to deliver programs that are impactful innovative and intergenerational.

Program Description: Goddard Riverside/Stanley Isaacs is working with the Susan Rubenstein Foundation toease poverty and provide opportunities by operating an Afterschool Program on the Upper Eastside. The Jack Augustafter-school program is in the Stanley Isaacs Community Center and serves youth from Issacs/Holmes NYCHAdevelopment. Afterschool operates during the school calendar year in non-school hours on weekdays by offering integrated programming tailored to local needs.

Position Summary: The job of After School Program Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of overseeing the deliveryof a broad range of programs within designated school areas that include Academic and Curricular Programs; SportsFitness and Recreation; The Arts; Character & Leadership Development; Career & Education Development; and Health& Life Skills; also planning developing and oversees the day-to-day operations of the after school program and
enrichment activities and coordinating program activities related to the school day; and performing a variety of otherduties relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Schedule: Monday-Friday (1:00pm-6:00pm)

Salary Range: $25-$27/hr

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salaryoffer will be basedonthe candidates number of years experience in the exact orcomparableposition and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Roles Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Coordinate daily program operations including supervision of activities snack distribution and studenttransitions.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate academic enrichment recreation and arts-based activities.
  • Provide direct support to students during homework assistance and academic enrichment sessions.
  • Actively engage with students during outdoor play physical activities and group games.
  • Supervise and participate in off-site trips special events and enrichment activities to ensure studentsafety and meaningful experiences.
  • Supervise and support part-time staff volunteers and tutors; ensure proper staff-to-student ratios.
  • Monitor student behavior and manage discipline issues according to program policies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents school personnel and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate attendance incident and program records.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing safety and organizational policies.
  • Support program evaluation and reporting efforts.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 2 years of experience working in childcare youth programs or educational settings
  • At least 1 year of experience supervising or managing childcare staff or programs
  • Some college coursework preferred
  • Must be able to attend all staff training sessions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Must pass all required screenings: Fingerprinting Sex Offender Registry TB screening and obtain aphysicians clearance to work with children
  • Completion of 5-hour online training in Foundations in Health and Safety (or willingness to completeupon hire)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) or Google Suite (DocsSheets Slides Gmail)
  • Experience managing recruiting and training staff
  • Familiarity with School-Age Child Care (SACC) licensing protocols preferred

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Weekday afternoon shifts typically from 1:00 PM 6:00 PM
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for events or training
  • Supervision required both indoors and outdoors including in varying weather conditions
  • Frequent bending kneeling walking and lifting to 25 pounds
  • Must be physically able to actively participate in youth activities and support programsetup/breakdown
