Job Description

Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

The Department

The HR Services Department is responsible for providing day-to-day HR advice and services on a range of employment-related issues including workplace policy legislative compliance concerning industrial agreements and workplace laws performance management advice the end-to-end attraction of talent and recruitment services retention initiatives OH&S leadership and support and general HR advice to employees and managers.

The Role

The Employee Relations Advisor is a technical expert and a point of escalation and expert advice for complex case management of employee issues such as grievances disputes large scale change complaints ill and injured employees and WorkCover-related matters. The Employee Relations Advisor develops solutions to complex employment-related problems.

The Employee Relations Advisor provides contemporary advice to senior managers on the application of relevant employment-related legislation assessment of industrial risks and compliance requirements with Orders and Directions given by the Victorian Department of Health.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a Human Resources discipline (Bachelor of Business HR major) or Human Resources Management or Employment Law required
  • At least 1-2 years experience in Employee Relations or 3-4 years relevant HR Business Partner experience
  • In depth knowledge and experience in interpreting and providing advice on workplace legislation and enterprise agreements as well as providing generalist HR advice to senior managers
  • Experience in conducting workplace investigations including the preparation of reports and advice to clients/internal stakeholders
  • Experience in developing and implemented policies and procedures
  • Experience negotiating with unions/employees
  • Experience in the Health Sector or other public sector organisations is highly desirable and advantageous
