Help protect one of Floridas most vital resources water with a career at theSouthwest Florida Water Management District (District).
The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources minimize flood risks and ensure the publics water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.
Support the Districts Operations Bureau providing leadership and management oversight of 5 highly technical professionals responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Districts water control infrastructure encompasses 84 water control structures 63 miles of canals 8 miles of dams 2 reservoirs and 171 secondary drainage systems. Additionally this team provides technical support for the maintenance of the Districts infrastructure on conservation lands including the inspection and maintenance of 13 bridges.
As the Structure Operations Manager you will coordinate operational decisions with various areas of the District and consider stakeholder input to make certain the appropriate structure operations are made as well as plan and maintain the Districts asset management system including maintenance management capital improvements and preventative replacements. The Structure Operations Manager will participate in the Districts Emergency Operations Team responding to weather-related and other emergency events ensuring adequate pre-incident preparation incident response and recover deployment of resources and emergency communications. The starting salary ranges are included for the Scientific Manager profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 50.0% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
Serve as the Districts Structure Operations Section Chief in emergency management activities before during and after major storm events and/or in conjunction with the overall emergency management strategy operations and recovery for the State of Florida such as in the event of hurricanes or other declared emergencies.
Participates in District-wide projects and performs other duties as required.
Most work is performed in a standard office environment but occasional field work will be required. Performs continuous repetitive tasks including keyboarding with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level. Employee will be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.
Ability to travel to other service offices or into the field usually during the workday is required. Occasional overnight travel is required. Occasionally required to drive an automobile for 4 hours or more at a time. Travel requirements may be more frequent during significant emergency operations events.

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. Applicants who are within 30 days of graduation if selected are not allowed to start until all minimum qualifications are met.
This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday out of the Brooksville FL office however some remote work may be available. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
This position is also eligible for relocation reimbursement limited to moving expenses upon meeting mileage and program criteria.
