General Description:Substitute teachers play an important role in the educational process. Substitute teachers must possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; be professional in demeanor and appearance; be punctual reliable organized and flexible. As a substitute teacher your services and contributions are necessary for the continuity of educational instruction for our students.
Responsibilities:- Following the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom you are substituting in accordance with the districts policies goals and objectives.
- Meeting and instructing assigned classes/duties in the locations and at the times designated.
- Establishing and maintaining order in the classroom.
- Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students materials equipment and facilities.
- Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules administrative regulations and School Committee Policies.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required:- GED / High School Diploma
- Previous experience working with children or young adults in educational recreational counseling or other supportive roles.
- Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
Qualifications Preferred:- Bachelors Degree
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of teaching and child development and one or more years of K-12 classroom substitute
- instructional assistant or practicum/internship experience
- An education degree or teacher licensure
Per Diem Rates:- Educational Support Professional : $15 per hour
- Non-Certified Substitute Teachers: $105 per day
- Substitute Teachers holding a valid MA DESE License: $118.75 per day
