Job Description

Job Title: ECG/EKG Technician (Electrocardiograph)

Specialty: Cardiology Non-Invasive Diagnostic Services

Place of Work (City/State): 11301 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles CA 90073
Work Site: VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS)
Duration: 12 months contract - with the possibility of a 4 years extension

Start Date: September 2025

Shift Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday 7:30 AM 4:00 PM
  • 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week maximum)
  • Includes two (2) 15-minute breaks and one (1) 30-minute meal break

License / Certifications:

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

  • 2 years of recent relevant experience is preferred
  • Experience operating ECG Holter and stress testing equipment
  • Knowledge of ECG lead placement and ability to recognize potentially lethal arrhythmias
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Access Outlook)
  • Familiarity with patient-centered care and HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to adapt to patients with physical challenges (e.g. amputations neurological conditions)
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of cardiology equipment

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and special ECG monitoring including ambulatory and exercise stress tests
  • Monitor patients during procedures; alert providers of abnormalities
  • Schedule patients and manage ECG equipment and supply inventory
  • Record and archive results using CPRS VISTA and MUSE systems
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation compliance
  • Educate and guide patients through diagnostic procedures
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout testing
  • Respond promptly to pages for ECG services across assigned VA facilities
  • Comply with all VA policies regarding hygiene professional attire and continuing medical education
