Job Description
The Amherst Public School District is seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time school year Interim Assistant Principal for Wildwood Elementary School.. Candidates who are well-versed in the teaching and learning process willing to support the work of the principal and are able to articulate their ability to advance the mission of improving student outcomes within the school are encouraged to apply. This position is covered under the APAA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Successful candidates will have Classroom ELL Special Education or Arts/Music teaching experience. Knowledge of PBIS and RTI is highly desirable. Bilingual/bi-cultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
To assist the principal in administering the disciplinary code of the school contributing to the development of behavioral intervention plans developing a positive school climate.
Oversight of special education and 504 student plans
Chair Special Education service delivery and team meetings
To lead and coordinate building-wide efforts to improve student academic outcomes.
To provide effective leadership and support to elementary school students and staff
Oversight of state mandated testing MCAS ACCESS.
Promote and ensure safety for the entire learning community
Participates in maintaining high standards of professional practice in all aspects of the operation of the school
Requirements:
MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License as a Principal/Assistant Principal (K-6)
Only Licensed candidates will be considered
Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Special Education regulations.
Ability to work with students staff and parents in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.
Demonstrated commitment to district multi-cultural goals and practices.
Work collaboratively and take independent initiative to solve problems and address issues.
Form a mutually supportive administrative team with the Principal for the benefit of the entire school community.
