The Opportunity
Visions of Science is expanding its educator-focused initiatives to equip teachers with the tools and strategies needed to deliver inclusive high-quality STEM learning. This includes professional development workshops curriculum-aligned resources (K12) and in-classroom co-facilitationanchored in the 2022 Ontario Science and Technology curriculum and de-streamed science courses. These efforts aim to help educators confidently apply an equity lens making STEM more engaging and relevant for all students especially those historically underrepresented in the field.
As we grow this work the Educator Engagement Facilitator will play a key role in designing and delivering learning experiences that promote inquiry-based real-world and culturally responsive approaches to STEM. They will also support classroom implementation through mentorship and coaching to ensure lasting impact.
Position Overview
As the Educator Engagement Facilitator you will lead the development and delivery of professional learning for educators helping them apply equity-focused inquiry-driven STEM teaching practices. Youll collaborate with schools and community partners to deliver workshops co-facilitate in classrooms and create supportive resources. Your work will directly contribute to more inclusive STEM learning environments where all students can thriveparticularly those from underserved communities.

- Contract Type/Term: Part-time Fixed

- End Date: December 2025
- Hours of Work/Schedule: up to 10 hours/week
- Location: Primarily remote; occasional in-office meetings/events at 71 Regent Park Blvd and workshops in Brampton)

- Salary: $25.28 CAD

Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Development & Delivery: Design and facilitate professional development sessions (virtual and in-person) that emphasize equity inquiry-based learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Curriculum-Aligned Resource Creation: Create accessible and practical educator resources aligned to the 2022 Ontario Science and Technology curriculum and de-streamed science content.
- In-Classroom Support: Provide mentorship co-facilitation and modeling of inclusive instructional strategies in classroom settings.
- Needs-Based Customization: Collaborate with schools and educators to adapt programming and resources based on local needs challenges and student contexts.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate strong trust-based relationships with educators school staff and community partners.
- Workshop Coordination: Support the planning and logistics of workshop delivery including scheduling communications and material preparation.
- Feedback & Evaluation: Gather feedback and insights from educators to inform program refinement and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge Sharing: Help document learnings and promising practices to strengthen Visions of Sciences educator support strategies.
- Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with other Visions of Science teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
Qualifications
Education & Training
- Post-secondary education in education science community development or a related field is an asset
- Professional development or certifications related to adult learning facilitation or equity-informed pedagogy are considered an asset
Required Experience & Expertise
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in program management education professional development delivery or a related field ideally within the nonprofit or education sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing educator-focused professional development including coaching and resource development.
- Experience designing and delivering adult learning experiences including both virtual and in-person formats
- Familiarity with the Ontario 2022 Science and Technology curriculum and/or de-streamed science courses
- Experience supporting educators and tailoring professional development to suit diverse educational contexts
- Experience developing or using equity-focused inquiry-based and/or culturally responsive instructional practices
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong understanding of equity and systemic barriers in STEM education and culturally responsive inquiry-based pedagogies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate complex educational concepts to various audiences and coaching educators through change.
- Effective facilitation and coaching skills with a learner-centered and strengths-based approach
- Strong project and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks priorities and stakeholder needs.
- Comfort using virtual collaboration and productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Google Workspace Asana) with openness to exploring emerging AI tools.
- Ability to adapt quickly problem-solve creatively and apply feedback in a dynamic evolving environment
Preferred:
- Experience supporting educators in adapting to curriculum changes and de-streamed science courses is considered an asset.
- Experience working in or with underserved or equity-deserving communities and/or a strong understanding of issues impacting these communities.
- Knowledge of best practices in adult learning and professional development.
