Position: Associate Director Institutional Giving Government Grants

Department: Development

Reports to: Director of Individual Giving and Operations

Hours:Full-time

Salary:$90000 - $100000

FLSA:Exempt

Location: On-site with the potential for some remote work.


PositionSummary:

Union Settlement seeks a detail-oriented and strategic Associate Director of Institutional Giving and Government Grants to lead our government funding portfolio. This role will focus on drafting submitting and managing all city state and federal contract proposals ensuring timely compliance and maintaining up-to-date records across various public sector portals. The Associate Director will also partner with program and finance teams to monitor deliverables track reporting requirements and support foundation and corporate fundraising strategies in collaboration with the broader institutional giving team.

This is an ideal opportunity for a highly organized development professional with deep knowledge of government grants and contracts excellent writing skills and a commitment to mission-driven work.

Responsibilities

Government Funding & Compliance (Primary Focus 80%)

  • Lead the full lifecycle of government contract proposals including drafting submission and renewals for city state and federal opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the COO to ensure compliance with all government regulations and contract terms including documentation performance metrics and budget tracking.
  • In collaboration with the COO and the Executive Director of Business Operations Compliance & Regulatory Affairs maintain and update relevant web portals such as NYC PASSPort State Financial Systems and similar platforms.
  • Partner with finance and program teams to submit all required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner including partnering with facilities and other departments on construction projects ensuring compliance with grant deliverables.
  • Serve as the organizations internal expert on government grant processes staying current on evolving compliance requirements and regulations.
  • Track contract deliverables reporting deadlines and payments in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Cross-Sector Institutional Giving (20%)

  • Support the Associate Director of Institutional Giving (Foundations and Corporations) in drafting proposals for general institutional funding opportunities.
  • Provide government-related data and insights for inclusion in foundation and corporate grants.
  • Support the team in identifying aligned government and institutional funding opportunities that further programmatic goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree a plus.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years progressively responsible development experience with demonstrable results across multiple streams of funding.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles strategies and trends in the non-profit sector.
  • Five plus years experience with donor databases Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience in establishing and institutionalizing donor database best practices.
  • Passion for the organizations mission and genuine commitment to its values. Familiarity with social service programs and a strong desire to help improve the lives of the residents in East Harlem.
  • Exceptional organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced challenging constantly changing environment. .
  • Overall flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A dedicated work ethic diligence and readiness to be a hands-on team member helping foster a collaborative and goal driven environment.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite experience is essential.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Preference for advanced skills in Excel data analysis and creating data visualizations.
  • Knowledge of East Harlem community strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally
