Job Description

Job Title: Support Worker Childrens Residential Home
Location: Ashbourne
Salary: Up to 26150
Working Hour: Fulltime including shifts weekends and sleepin duties
Service: Childrens Home
Service Users: Children with Learning Disabilities (LD)
Qualifications Required: Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
Experience in Years: Experience in working with children particularly with learning disabilities or additional needs (desirable)
Employment Type: Permanent

We are seeking a compassionate patient and empathetic individual who is passionate about working with children with learning disabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills the ability to work effectively in a team and a commitment to providing highquality care that promotes the wellbeing growth and independence of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to children with learning disabilities ensuring their safety dignity and wellbeing at all times.
  • Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene dressing and feeding as required.
  • Support children in educational and recreational activities both within the home and in the community.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with children promoting emotional development and selfconfidence.
  • Implement and follow individual care plans tailored to the needs of each child.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues families and external professionals to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintain a clean safe and nurturing environment within the home.
  • Monitor and document childrens progress behaviours and changes in needs.
  • Support children in managing their emotions and behaviours using deescalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Participate in team meetings training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience working with children particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs is desirable.
  • Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Caring empathetic and patient approach to working with children.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours professionally and calmly.
  • Flexibility to work shifts including evenings weekends and public holidays.
  • Full driving licence including business insurance.
