We are looking for a highlyskilled school leader who is passionate about improving life chances for all through a professional commitment to leading change and improvement that ensures positives outcomes for our children and young people. As a depute headteacher in Fife you will be responsible for supporting the headteacher by contributing to the strategic vision for the school working with a wide range of stakeholders to implement and pursue the objectives set in policies and for contributing to the development of a selfimproving system across the education community and beyond.

Viewforth High School is situated close to the A92 making the school easily accessible from Dundee Edinburgh Perth and Kinross and the central belt.
Responsibilities
You shall be accountable to the Headteacher and Education and Childrens Services and for the following list of duties and for such other duties as can reasonably be attached to the post. In carrying out these duties you will be responsible for:
- The strategic overview of Curriculum; Tracking Monitoring and Reporting; Whole School Timetable; Pupil Leadership and DHT with responsibility for S3 and S4.
- Working in partnership with the Headteacher staff learners parents and partners in the wider school community to implement and monitor the progress of school/departmental developments focussed on improving outcomes for all learners in the school community that are based on a critical knowledge and understanding of contemporary educational policy development and research
- Supporting the Headteacher/Leadership team in sharing the vision ethos and aims of the school(s) to inspire and motivate learners staff and all members of the learning community and its partners to set high expectations for every learner.
- Working with others to establish sustain and enhance a culture of learning and a positive ethos in collaboration with the whole school community to ensure that every learner achieves their potential.
- Promoting an inclusive community that values diversity and challenges discrimination.
- Building maintaining and reviewing partnerships with other professions and agencies to support the learning pastoral and emotional needs of learners.
- Working with the team to systematically gather and use assessment feedback and learners progress data to evaluate and plan future learning.
- Supporting others to take on leadership roles and engage in regular and rigorous selfevaluation individually and collectively.
- Working with the Headteacher/Leadership team to create opportunities for groups to work collaboratively to take forward improvement priorities as well as monitor and review progress.
- Supporting the Headteacher/Leadership team in setting and communicating clearly high expectations of the quality of teaching and assessment at all stages in the school.
- Working with teams to design coherent and progressive programmes and establish and develop pedagogic practices to meet the learning and pastoral needs of all learners.
- Supporting a culture of professional learning including engaging in careerlong professional learning as a leading learner encouraging others to engage in careerlong learning to enhance their practice and consistent use of PRD processes.
- Working with the Headteacher/Leadership team to making best strategic and operational use of available resources to create maintain and enhance an appropriate learning environment for effective teaching and learning and to support improvement.
- Contributing to cluster local and national developments and discussions to support and enhance the development of others crosssector working at all levels and the policy making process.
- Managing the safety and welfare of all within their area of responsibility giving due regard to health and safety legislation.
- Effectively managing resources and budget within their area of responsibility to ensure best value.
Qualification Registration and Skill Requirements
You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of the senior leadership team to lead and manage school improvement both at strategic and operational levels to ensure continuous improvement.
You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a school leader through careerlong professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.
Before confirming your appointment you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
Full General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) registration.
For posts within Primary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Primary.
For posts within Secondary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Secondary for the specific subject.
You are required to model all behaviour expected of a teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards.
Full registration is required for all Permanent posts for temporary class teacher posts provisional GTCS registration in the relevant sector will be considered.
Candidates holding GTCS registration in Further Education must also hold Primary or Secondary registration to meet the essential criteria as determined by Fife Council. For teaching specific subjects you must be fully registered with GTCS to teach those subjects.
