Job Description

Introduction

St Patricks Primary School Cessnock is seeking a Permanent Part Time 19.5 hours per week) Learning Support Assistantto join the team Tuesday Friday each week.

St Patricks Primary School Cessnock is located in the beautiful Hunter Valley area of New South Wales cratering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Surrounded outside of the city centre by verdant countryside Cessnock is the largest town in Australias oldest wine region. The region is full of activities catering to various lifestyle pursuits and is less than an hour outside of the Newcastle CBD. A school of 355 students St Patricks provides a place built on the Josephite tradition where creative learning and the individual talents of each student and teacher is appreciated embraced and encouraged. The school has a strong focus on community and is committed to supporting each individual student and teacher.



Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Learning Support Assistants (LSA) in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of supporting teachers in ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live a purposeful life.



Skills And Experiences

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
  • Experience working with students with disability (K12
  • Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of a teacher and in collaboration with school staff CSO staff and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively administer assessments and deliver interventions under the direction of a teacher
  • Demonstrated ability to implement adjustments required for individual students and groups of students
  • Experience in supporting student enrolment and transitions under the direction of a teacher
  • Knowledge about the relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
  • Evidence of excellent organisational interpersonal and administrative skills

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training
  • Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support / or experience in schools (Desirable)
  • Experience implementing intervention programs such as MiniLit Sage (Desirable)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
