Crisis Lead
This position is responsible for the administrative oversight of crisis services at CAPS. This position works closely with a cohesive administrative team at CAPS and receives assistance from administrative support staff. As the crisis lead of a multidisciplinary health team overseeing treatment crisis focused training and departmentwide response to mental health crises this position administratively supervises and supports staff members in implementing multidisciplinary treatment plans students accessing crisis services provides direct clinical services to students including administration and interpretation of some assessment measures administratively supervises staff and train multidisciplinary trainees analyzes data for patient tracking and annual reports and manages own patient scheduling and documentation responsibilities. Many MSU students have difficulty with severe and persistent mental illness(es) multiple needs for additional resources chronic suicidal homicidal or selfharm risk factors; and/or multiple diagnoses that may cause significant impairment in academic and relationship functioning. This crisis lead will work closely with UHW departments including CHS CFS and EAP.
When clinically indicated during a mental health emergency they will either delegate staff to or personally accompany students to the emergency room to support continuity of care advocate for students and/or their families and facilitate discharge planning. The successful candidate will work to lead crisis counselors and the general staff in providing high quality care consultation to providers in responding to different crises leadership in responding to campus crises engagement with administration in collaboration with relevant campus and community departments and demonstrate a significant commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented/underserved populations.
Knowledge that would be acquired by completing a Ph.D. in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or closely related field from an APAaccredited program; six months to one year of related experience in psychotherapy in a clinic/agency environment.
Current Michigan Full Licensure as a Psychologist in good standing or a current Michigan Limited License as a Psychologist with the requirement to obtain full licensure within 18 months.
Applicants with a limited license in psychology in Michigan or those eligible to obtain one immediately (Psychologist LLP License commonly held during residency) must meet the following criteria for employment consideration:
i. Provide proof of passing the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP).
ii. Complete a collaborative review with CAPS to confirm that all requirements for full licensure are met within 18 months including postdoctoral supervision hours and educational requirements. Upon hire CAPS will provide licensure supervision for candidates with these qualifications.
Excellent verbal/nonverbal communication skills Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team with compassion and integrity Previous clinical experience working with adolescents and/or young adults Experience in a multidisciplinary setting with diverse college student populations from a multicultural/intercultural perspective Previous clinical experience with crisis stabilization and interactions with hospital systems and higher level of care settings High tolerance for chaotic intense situations Comfort with a fastpaced work environment Knowledge of electronic medical records data entry and various technological proficiencies. Previous interactions with mental health agencies/environments hospitals individuals and families in crisis or with significant mental health concerns and government agencies (e.g. CPS DHS Police Departments etc. Proficiency in Dialectical Behavior Therapy & Crisis Intervention Experience and proficiency in Administrative experience 3 years Full licensure for 3 years as a Psychologist
