Director of Events and Activities (A1600F)
Overview of the Office and Position
The Office of Events & Activities works with on and offcampus partners to create programs and experiences that connect users to each other and the institution. The office serves as the hub for facility reservations across campus and provides involvement and connection opportunities for current students. This position provides leadership and direction to the office staff while planning largescale events for the campus and community. The role requires creativity organization strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. The Director of Events and Activities is a fulltime position reporting to the Dean of Students.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Campus Activities and Student Engagement
Develop coordinate promote and evaluate campus events and connection opportunities for all students
Oversee the Orientation program for new students
Advise the Student Government Association
Collaborate with university departments for student support and programming
Develop short and longterm vision for Office of Events and Activities
Events Management and Facility Coordination
Market and recruit events using university facilities
Maintain an accurate and uptodate promotional website for event marketing
Consult on event planning security needs and programming logistics
Plan and implement some largescale events for both the campus and community partners
Oversee the policies and processes for facility usage by external groups including compliance with policies such as Youth Protection Policy and the Facility Use Policies
Supervision and Fiscal Responsibilities
Provide direct oversight for the Office of Events and Activities and indirect oversight for the Aggie Rec Center and McMahon Centennial Complex
Supervise and evaluate 3 (three) fulltime staff members
Develop and oversee budgets for the office
Oversee creation and of event contracts invoice collections and financial reporting
Approve purchase orders and monitor accounts receivable
Chair the Public Exercises Task Force and serve on various other university committees.
Required Skills
Strong planning organizational and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in event coordination
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with university colleagues
Ability to work well with diverse populations
Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication skills
Must possess a valid drivers license and ability to be insured under the Universitys policy.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelors degree .
Five or more years of applicable experience preferably in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree
Facility management experience
Knowledge of budget oversight and contract management
Salary Range: Budgeted at $50000/annually plus benefits. Opportunity for performance compensation subject to approval and budgetary availability.
