Job Description

We are seeking a detailoriented and proactive individual to join our finance department as a Payroll and Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with payroll processing reconciling accounts and providing general support to the finance team. This position offers an opportunity to gain handson experience in payroll administration and accounting procedures.

Tasks

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll for employees ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions including taxes UIF and pension contributions.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee information payroll transactions and benefits administration.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  • Prepare and submit payrollrelated statutory returns and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including processing invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with monthend and yearend closing processes including preparation of financial reports.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in accounting finance or a related field.
  • Previous experience in payroll administration or accounting roles is preferred.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and accounting software (e.g. Pastel QuickBooks).
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing procedures and statutory regulations.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
