Our client is a large NSW Government Organisation who are seeking Project Officerto join their team.


The role of the Project Officer is to manage a secretariat function within the Federal Financial Relations team and broader team project support. This includes coordinating and managing policy briefings and advice process to support the Treasurer and the Agencys Senior Executive participation in high-level Commonwealth-state intergovernmental meetings (including the Council on Federal Financial Relations) and working with the Federal Financial Relations team. The role is also responsible for coordinating, collating, monitoring and reporting some State Government data drawn from across NSW Government agencies, to the Commonwealth Government.



Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the preparation of meeting agendas and related briefing advice working with the Federal Financial Relations team as well as across the department. Collate, track and monitor progress to ensure timely preparation of key policy advice to the Treasurer and the Agencys Senior Executive. This includes compiling and preparing high quality meeting packs and briefing folders.
  2. Source and collate data and information from across the Agency and NSW Government agencies relating to NSW Government revenues and expenditures. Review and monitor data quality and consistency to identify and address emerging issues or gaps.
  3. Build strong relationships across the Agency, NSW Government, the Commonwealth as well as other state and territory Treasuries to support inter-governmental meetings and data provision and foster constructive relationships to facilitate timely exchange or sharing of information that assists the work of the wider team in advancing NSW Government priorities.
  4. Policy project coordination and organisational skills to set project timeframes and milestones, track progress, identify emerging risks, and where appropriate, seek to resolve or escalate such issues.
  5. Support, maintain and update excel spreadsheets and input data.
  6. Work collaboratively as part of a highly effective, agile team that is responsive to a changing environment.

Selection Criteria:
  1. Policy related project management/secretariat related skills with the ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  2. Understanding of government and its processes.
  3. Attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously and willingness to put in the effort to get the job done.
  5. Collaboration and team skills.
  6. Some spreadsheeting skills and confidence working in Excel.
  7. Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.

On offer is a 6 month contract at a highly sought after NSW Government organisation, with a highly competitive daily rate.
