Role Summary

The Configuration Manager is responsible for establishing maintaining and governing the Configuration Management practice to ensure accurate reliable and auditable Configuration Item (CI) data across the organization. The role ensures the integrity of the CMDB supports ITSM processes and enables effective impact analysis risk management and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Configuration Management Governance

. Own and manage the Configuration Management process aligned to ITIL best practices
. Define CMDB policies standards procedures and operating models
. Ensure CI lifecycle management from onboarding to retirement
. Drive audits reconciliations and compliance activities

CMDB & Tool Management

. Manage and govern the CMDB (ServiceNow tool)
. Define CI classes attributes relationships and naming conventions
. Ensure data accuracy completeness and consistency across sources
. Oversee discovery tools and integrations feeding the CMDB

Data Quality & Assurance

. Establish CMDB health KPIs (accuracy completeness compliance)
. Perform regular audits and corrective actions
. Identify data gaps and work with resolver teams to remediate issues
. Manage exceptions and risk acceptance where required

Process Integration

. Integrate Configuration Management with: Incident Management (impact analysis) Change Management (risk assessment) Problem Management (root cause analysis) Asset Management & Release Management
. Ensure CI data supports operational and business decision-making

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

. Act as the primary CMDB/Configuration Management SME
. Collaborate with infrastructure application security and service teams
. Coordinate with vendors and tool providers for enhancements and fixes
. Provide executive-level reporting and insights

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

. Build dashboards and reports (Power BI / ServiceNow) on CMDB health
. Identify automation opportunities and process improvements
. Drive maturity improvements using ITIL maturity models
. Support audits regulatory and compliance requirements

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Must Have skills

. Strong experience in ITIL Configuration Management
. Hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB (preferred) or equivalent
. Deep understanding of CI lifecycle relationships and dependencies
. Experience integrating discovery tools and data sources
. Strong analytical documentation and governance skills

Good To have

. ITIL v4 certification (mandatory in some organizations)
. Experience with Power BI or reporting tools
. Knowledge of Software Asset Management (SAM) & IT Asset Management (ITAM)
. Experience in large global delivery environments
. Audit compliance or regulated industry exposure
