The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) as part of the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Performance & Analysis to join our Finance team to support an uplift in financial capability and organisational performance.

About the role

At the BCT we are committed to continuous improvement so this temporary role has been recently developed to compliment our existing Finance team to enhance our financial systems data and business processes with the view of building capability and strengthen financial management and organisational performance. The role is currently twelve-months and has the potential of extension or conversionto ongoing.

The role will also deliver of accurate timely and compliant financial reporting and analysis to support strategic and operational decisionmaking for the BCT. The role provides highlevel insights into cost drivers variance trends and financial risks and oversees the coordination of complex reporting processes.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual that is equally proficient in working with numbers as they are in communication engagement and effectively meeting a diverse range of stakeholder needs.

You will also be someone who:

  • Demonstrated advanced financial systems and digital skills (Microsoft 365 incl. Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint SAP and Power BI).
  • Substantial experience in budgeting forecasting and financial performance reporting/analysis in a complex and diverse Government organisation/s
  • Strong business insights and decision support capability including identifying cost drivers analysing variances and translating financial data into actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and communication skills including presenting financial results coordinating reporting processes and building financial capability across diverse teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Accounting Business Economics or Commerce) with a relevant professional membership and extensive professional experience.
  • To obtain and maintain a satisfactory background check

The Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water(DCCEEW) works to protect the states environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy powered by affordable reliable and clean energy.

The New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment.

The Trusts roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land guided by the governments Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of appreciation and understanding of biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) and the BCTs private land conservation (PLC) programs

The successful applicant for this role will be required to declare any conflict of interests related to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme as defined in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Conflict of Interests Protocol. This ensures the department is made aware of potential conflicts of interest so they can be appropriately managed.

Where an applicant has a high-risk defined interest in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme they may be required to divest this interest before being employed by the department.
