The Secondary Coach for Exceptional Learning supports and improves instructional practices for students with exceptional needs in grades 612. This position works with teachers administrators and support staff to implement IEPs differentiated instruction and evidence-based strategies in both inclusive and specialized settings.
Day to Day Responsibilities
Reports to Director of Specialized Curriculum and Instruction Exceptional Learning Department
Provide instructional coaching to secondary teachers in best practices for exceptional learners including co-teaching differentiation andaccommodation.
Support teachers in developing implementing andmonitoringIEPs and 504 plans.
Facilitate professional development sessions on topics related to special education inclusion and effective classroom strategies.
Work with building and district leaders to analyze student data andidentifyinstructional improvement areas.
Serve as a resource for curriculum modification and adaptation to meet diverse student needs.
Demonstrate effective instructional strategies in classrooms and provide feedback to staff.
Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and SPS policies.
Participate in student support teams IEP meetings and other collaborative processes asrequired.
Supporteducators in implementing differentiated instruction multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and inclusive classroom practices.
Stay current with best practices research and developments in exceptional learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Special Educationor a related fieldrequired;mastersdegree preferred.
At least three years of successful teaching experience with exceptional learners at the secondary level.
Demonstrated knowledge of special education law IEP development and evidence-based instructional strategies isrequired.
Strong interpersonal communication and coaching skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Experience with data-driven instructional improvement.
