Job Description:
Client has an immediate need for a Quality Assurance Associate in Freeport TX If you are a passionate technical professional that likes to work in an autonomous hands-on environment and a dedicated Quality professional with a proven track record of success.
What You Will Do:
Promptly performs reports and records all Quality Control procedures and test results in a precise and accurate manner.
Applies Good Laboratory Practices to accurately record and file all raw test data including pertinent paperwork -e.g./ chromatograms graphs spectra and test results. Communicates results and dispositions to Production and QA and Supervisor as requires. Calculates and recommends batch adjustments to Production.
Reports promptly all problems regarding procedures equipment products raw materials specifications etc. to the QC Supervisor or designate as well as other QC Chemists.
Maintenance inventory status of reagents equipment etc. to keep the lab at full operational capacity.
Prepares lab standard test reagents and performs standardization on reagents and calibration of equipment on a regular basis. Keeps detailed records and maintains control and/or trend charts.
Maintains a clean safe and orderly work environment and assures smooth operation of the QA Laboratory by communication planning and preparation in support of other shifts.
Operation of instrumentation such as densitometer NMR ICP GC GPC FTIR and auto-titrator.
Analyze environmental samples for TOC pH and COD.
Position requires use of SAP Excel spreadsheets Access database Microsoft Word in addition to instrument-specific software.

Responsibilities:
This position will primarily be responsible for conducting testing to ensure the quality of purchased raw materials intermediates and finished products and assists in troubleshooting plant quality problems.
Performs routine analysis using Quality Control procedures under supervision using established test procedures.
Operation and maintenance of a variety of laboratory instrumentation and associated software.
Approve/reject materials by comparison with the Inspection Plan requirements.
Interfaces with QA Management R & D and Manufacturing personnel in troubleshooting problems with raw materials in-process materials intermediates and finished products under the direction of more experienced QA personnel.
Performs timely standardization and calibration of reagents and equipment.
Assists in the generation of physical properties and routine analysis of samples from the field and R&D.
Follows sample labeling requirements.
Assists in maintaining needed supplies of chemicals and miscellaneous equipment.
Participates in special projects assigned by Management or Senior QA Associates.
Monitors quality of plant utility samples as requested.
Maintain good housekeeping to ensure laboratory cleanliness.
Adhere to safety health and environmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of an associate degree in Chemistry or related technical field or college coursework in pursuit of an associate degree in Chemistry or a related technical field.
Basic computer skills are desirable.
All candidates must have the ability to speak read and write English.

Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to Lift/Carry up to 20 pounds
Role is deemed safety sensitive and is subject to employer or customer drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in Chemistry or related technical field and industrial-specific laboratory experience are preferred.
Basic knowledge of SAP.
Intermediate computer skills particularly in the use of spreadsheets and databases.
Awareness of Laboratory and chemical safety.
