The Opportunity
This position works out of our St. Paul location in the EP division.
In Abbotts Electrophysiology (EP) business were advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for the efficient day-to-day administrative and operational support of laboratory activities. This role ensures seamless coordination of supplies documentation control service agreements and laboratory systems while also supporting sample management processes and enabling scientists to focus on research and development.
What Youll Work On
Laboratory Operations & Supply Management
- Order receive and manage laboratory supplies and inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Track incoming materials and verify accuracy of orders against purchase documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve supply issues.
- Communicate directly with vendors as applicable.
- Monitor and report up finance numbers to management.
Document Control & Change Management
- Support change management processes by releasing revising and maintaining controlled documents within Windchill (or equivalent document management system).
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements for document control activities.
- Monitor and ensure correct training is assigned to lab personnel.
Contracts & Vendor Management
- Manage Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and service contracts for laboratory equipment and services.
- Track contract terms renewals and vendor performance.
- Coordinate with procurement legal and technical teams to maintain compliance and service continuity.
Laboratory Systems Administration
- Administer laboratory time tracking software ensuring accurate usage and reporting.
- Serve as a key point of contact for administrative system updates and enhancements.
- Maintain and administer SharePoint sites to support document organization collaboration and communication across teams
Sample Management Support
- Support the sample receipt process including receiving logging and labelling samples.
- Assign samples to appropriate scientists based on testing request details or Management input.
- Ensure proper documentation traceability and organization of all incoming samples.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a laboratory research or regulated environment.
- Strong Microsoft Office skill.
- Experience with document control systems (e.g. Windchill) SharePoint Teams and other office software tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in managing department finance including purchase orders invoices and reports.
