Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer the Finance Manager will lead and direct the business office staff and financial operations of the district.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Supervise payroll accounts receivable and payable general ledger accounting and employee benefits.
Supervise business office staff and assist the CFO with the evaluation process.
Maintain the financial records of the district in conformance with GAAP GASB and Board of Education policy.
Maintain the general ledger for the General Fund Preschool Fund Community Resource Fund Food Service Fund Debt Retirement Fund Student Activities Fund and Capital Projects Funds.
Maintain proper internal controls.
Monitor and maintain accounting for state and federal programs.
Complete timely bank reconciliations for all funds monthly.
Monitor district cash flow.
Prepare and record journal entries as required.
Supervise the districts financial software program and manage users.
Serve as the districts primary contact during the annual comprehensive audit and federal programs single audit.
Prepare and reconcile all financial reports.
Prepare and submit reports including but not limited to Annual Financial Report (FID) Special Education Cost Reports Career & Technical Education Information System (CTEIS) Report and Medicaid Outreach.
Review the procedures and use of district internal funds and perform periodic audits of those accounts.
Recommend changes and improvements in all accounting functions as needed.
Prepare financial information for administrative-level decision-making.
Assist with annual budget preparation.
Prepare and present financial information to various stakeholders (BOE central administration building-level staff etc.)
Assist in the selection hiring and training of business office personnel.
Lead professional development for staff members supporting business and payroll functions at the building and department level.
Work collaboratively with all district stakeholders.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer/Designee.

Develop effective working relationships with co-workers and staff.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Current Certifications / Knowledge Base Desirable:
Minimum of bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field. Supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance (public school or other governmental accounting experience preferred).
Michigan School Business Official Credentialing or willingness to obtain and/or equivalent experience.
