The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the states public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
Description of Work

The E-rate Coordinator supports the School Connectivity & CyberSecurity section by helping North Carolina public school units secure manage and fully utilize federal E-rate funding for telecommunications Internet access and network infrastructure. This position provides statewide coordination technical assistance application support training reporting and program guidance to ensure public schools have reliable secure high-speed connectivity while maximizing the effective use of federal and state funding.
This is a regional home-based position and may require up to 20 percent travel.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as a statewide E-rate resource for North Carolina public schools by providing expert guidance technical assistance and program support related to federal E-rate requirements applications funding commitments appeals and eligible services.
Monitor the Schools and Libraries Division FCC and related E-rate program resources for North Carolina school system applications funding commitments program changes added eligible services deadlines and compliance requirements.
Provide direct telephone email virtual and on-site support to public school units including assistance with application completion vendor issues funding questions SLD appeals and program documentation.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with PSU E-rate contacts Technology Directors state E-rate coordinators the Schools and Libraries Division the FCC public libraries private schools vendors and other eligible entities.
Oversee develop and maintain databases reports and program records that compile and track information specific to North Carolina public schools participation in the E-rate program.
Create current E-rate training resources deliver training sessions participate in state and national E-rate coordination calls provide leadership and guidance to other SCI E-rate Coordinators and complete additional duties as assigned.
Valid North Carolina Drivers License. Out-of-state applicants must have a valid drivers license and acquire a North Carolina Drivers License within 60 days of hire.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $70528.00 - $90669.00
Management Preferences:
- Three years of E-rate experience as a state E-rate coordinator or professional E-rate consultant with ten or more clients.
- Experience within a K-12 administrative or instructional environment.
- Experience developing and delivering technical training.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate degree in computer science or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking related experience; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of networking related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
