Job Description and Role Within the USD 480 Instructional Support System
Position Purpose
The District Instructional Mentor provides intensive job-embedded coaching and mentoring to pre-certified educators across USD 480 including interim teachers resident interims Grow Here participants Registered Teacher Apprentices (RTA) and other staff pursuing teacher licensure.
The District Instructional Mentor serves as the districts primary mentor for pre-certified teachers helping them strengthen instructional practice build confidence and successfully transition to full teacher certification.

Principals and Assistant Principals
The District Teacher Pathway Coordinator
The Director of Recruitment and Education
Contract Type / Days
Middle management
Same Number of Teacher Contract Days 10 Addtional Days
Primary Role of the District Instructional Mentor
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct classroom observations and coaching cycles with pre-certified teachers
Provide feedback on instruction classroom management and planning
Assist with lesson design and implementation
Offer side-by-side support to teachers needing intensive assistance
Coordinate with Building Instructional Coaches
Communicate regularly with principals and district staff
Participate in recruiting and candidate development
Serve as university supervisor when assigned
Other duties as assigned
