What We Are Looking For
The Athletics Case Manager serves as a critical connector within Baylor Athletics as part of the Athletics Mental Health Services (AMHS) unit. This position provides initial consultation case management and coordinated care for student-athletes navigating not only mental health concerns but also transition into and out of Baylor University functioning as a liaison between the athlete and the interdisciplinary team and ensuring every student-athlete receives consistent collaboration with our Athletics Care Team you will develop treatment plans facilitate referrals and serve as a steady trusted presence for some of our most vulnerable student-athletes. This position will play a critical role in the success during the lifecycle of a student-athlete.
A masters degree with 3 years of experience is required while 5 years is preferred.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What Will You Do
Provide initial assessment and triage consultation and crisis intervention services for student-athletes seeking mental health services
Assist in identification of appropriate clinical resources and referrals including higher level of care
Regular follow up with student-athletes identified as needing additional support ensuring continuity of care and timely intervention
Serve as the primary liaison between the student-athlete and their identified sport care team
Maintain complete accurate timely and appropriate documentation of all student-athlete engagement
- Assist in both records acquisition and release throughout the lifecycle of the student-athlete. (e.g. pre-enrollment active roster separating from roster/university seeking post-eligible support)
- Assist Student-Athlete Services leadership to develop strong referral network both locally and nationally
- Serve as administrator for the Athletics Clinical Care Team
- Facilitate collaboration among athletic trainers medical staff and coaches to maintain a holistic athlete-centered care model
- Coordinate student-athlete care with campus and community partners including Counseling Services Campus Health
- Services Baylor Office of Access and Learning Accommodation (OALA) the Baylor Beauchamp Addiction and Recovery Center (BARC) and the Baylor University Department of Student Care and Wellbeing
- Maintain monthly and annual reports as directed by the Executive Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Services (or designee)
- Work with Student-Athlete Academic Services and Athletic Medicine staff to manage NCAA Medical Exception ADHD process including communication with appropriate referrals and documentation
- Assist Athletics Mental Health staff with student-athlete initiatives including educational workshops performance enhancement strategies and crisis response protocols
- Assist in building proactive wellness programming that aligns with NCAA Mental Health Best Practice guidelines
- Coordinate annual and quarterly mental health screens to aid in identification of at-risk student-athletes
- Provide support for staff supervision of social work interns as applicable based on discipline and licensure
- Maintain current knowledge of NCAA Big 12 Conference and Baylor institutional rules
- Uphold HIPAA and FERPA guidelines in all aspects of student-athlete care
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Athletics Mental Health Services unit
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors Mission
- Ability to comply with University Policies
