Reporting to the Site Agent General Foreman or Site Manager the Steel Fixer Supervisor will plan supervise and coordinate steel fixing gangs and associated subcontractors to deliver reinforcement works safely on programme and to specification. The role requires hands-on technical competence strong leadership and the ability to interpret drawings and bar bending schedules while enforcing health & safety standards on site.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate steel fixing teams and subcontractors on a daily basis to achieve programme milestones.
Allocate labour plant and materials effectively to meet the construction programme and maintain productivity.
Set out reinforcement work and check it against drawings bar bending schedules tolerances and specifications.
Carry out and record quality checks; prepare for and witness inspections ahead of concrete pours.
Lead daily briefings and toolbox talks; ensure safe systems of work are understood and followed.
Monitor progress productivity and material usage; report trends and issues to site management.
Identify design queries reinforcement clashes or material shortages early and coordinate resolution with the engineering team.
Ensure RAMS are implemented and understood; enforce PPE and site rules consistently.
Support recruitment induction training and performance management of the steel fixing gang.
Maintain accurate records and handover documentation for reinforcement works.
Qualifications
Extensive practical steel fixing experience with proven supervisory or chargehand background.
Valid CSCS card (Supervisor level).
SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
Sound working knowledge of construction health & safety legislation and best practice.
Desirable: First Aid at Work certification.
Desirable: Temporary Works Supervisor experience and/or CPCS appointed person (slinger/signaller) certification.
Desirable: Experience delivering reinforcement on major civils or reinforced concrete frame projects.
