Senior PowerBuilder Developer

At Nimber were looking for an experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to join a challenging project within the financial markets sector.

Youll play a key role in developing maintaining and modernising business-critical applications combining strong PowerBuilder expertise with SQL development and production support.

Were looking for someone with proven financial markets experience strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver reliable technical solutions in a demanding environment.

• Design develop enhance and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries stored procedures and database objects.
• Investigate application issues perform debugging and implement performance improvements.
• Support production deployments and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders project managers QA teams and developers.
• Participate in code reviews and promote development standards and best practices.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including solution designs and deployment procedures.
• Estimate development efforts and contribute to project planning.
• Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced developers when required.

• At least 5 years of professional experience with PowerBuilder including PowerScript DataWindow and DataStores.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL including stored procedures and query optimisation.
• Proven experience working on financial markets projects (mandatory).
• Good understanding of financial instruments and the trade lifecycle.
• Experience with application maintenance production support and troubleshooting in business-critical environments.
• Proficiency in Git for version control.
• Knowledge of n-tier application architectures.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• English proficiency at C1 level or above both written and spoken.

• Experience with PowerBuilder 2019 or 2022.
• Previous involvement in application upgrades migrations or modernisation projects.
• Knowledge of REST/SOAP web services and data formats such as JSON and XML.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices.
