About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to build and evolve the backend services powering a next-generation Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) is a 80% hands-on engineering role focused on distributed systems event-driven architectures and cloud-native platform development. This role requires a strong developer who wants to actively write production-grade code every day rather than moving into pure architecture or management.
What Youll Do
- Build Backend Services: Develop and maintain scalable high-performance backend services using Rust and Python.
- Evolve Distributed Systems: Work on cloud-native and edge-based systems running across cloud edge and robot environments.
- Develop APIs: Design version and implement robust REST APIs and service interfaces for fleet management orchestration and real-time monitoring.
- Ensure Code Quality: Build automated and integration tests directly into the development cycle while maintaining strict CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate & Mentor: Work alongside Frontend Robotics DevOps and QA teams while supporting junior engineers through code reviews.
What Youll Need
- Strong Backend Expertise: Proven experience developing high-velocity production-grade distributed systems (not limited to simple CRUD applications).
- Language Proficiency: Strong professional experience in both Rust and Python including asynchronous programming.
- Cloud-Native Stack: Hands-on experience with Docker Kubernetes container orchestration and platform resilience tracking.
- Data Management: Solid background in PostgreSQL Redis data modeling and query optimization.
- Engineering Discipline: Deep understanding of integration testing secure coding practices and observability/monitoring tools.
Nice-to-Have (Differentiators)
- Exposure to the robotics industry AMR platforms Fleet Management Systems or ROS1/ROS2.
- Experience with communication protocols and messaging platforms like MQTT gRPC WebSockets Kafka NATS or DDS.
- Background working on multi-tenant SaaS platforms or high-throughput data pipelines.
