Job Summary
About the Role
Hyperion is an Independent Power Producer with an operating PV fleet and an expanding portfolio that is becoming multi-technology (PV BESS Wind hybrids). In the core business scope Hyperion is currently divided into the Development areas Technical and Operations teams and Asset Management.
We are reinforcing our technical team thats responsible for the architecture plant-level control philosophy and software integration stack across the full portfolio.
The role is anchored in Technical and Operations teams highly relevant collaboration with the Development teams to stabilize and define technical solutions before reaching Ready to Build stages. It is a cross-functional role: the successful candidate will work daily with Business Development Constructions teams within the T&O O&M Asset Management Commercial Finance and IT and externally with OEMs EPCs TSOs co-owners and technical advisors.
What You Will Do
Co-manage the SCADA reference architecture. Define and maintain fleet-wide standards for communications architecture signal lists tag naming data model time synchronization redundancy and cybersecurity. Make them contractually binding in EPC and O&M contracts.
Specify and de-risk new projects. Review and challenge SCADA communications ICT and cybersecurity scope in EPC tenders. Lead FAT SAT point-to-point testing and end-to-end data validation during commissioning. Ensure what is delivered at COD matches the owners standards.
Integrate technology in hybrid points of connection. Act as the owners technical authority for BESS EMS/PCS integration and for hybrid plant controllers (PVBESS PVWind PVWindBESS) dispatch logic setpoint arbitration grid-code compliance and ancillary services readiness.
Validate technical solutions for renewable connection points. Representing the technical team in optimizing or validating previous technical solutions defined by previous phases of involvement
Consolidate the operating fleet. Assist in the progressive consolidation of heterogeneous operating assets onto a coherent monitoring reporting and analytics platform.
Ensure grid and cybersecurity compliance. Guarantee SCADA/PPC compliance with TSO/DSO requirements across jurisdictions (telemetry remote set-points curtailment ancillary services). Implement and maintain an OT cybersecurity baseline aligned with NIS2 and IEC 62443.
Own data quality and integrations. Oversee integrations between SCADA CMMS ERP Energy Management forecasting market/settlement and reporting platforms. Guarantee the data quality that underpins performance analytics commercial settlement and reporting to co-owners and lenders.
Be a cross-functional partner. Translate technical constraints into commercial and operational impact for non-technical stakeholders. Represent Hyperion in technical meetings with OEMs service providers TSOs and partners and participate in vendor selection and commercial discussions.
Must-Have Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Electronics Automation Control Computer or Telecommunications Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable projects in technically defining phases including also SCADA / control / communications engineering in utility-scale sizing.
Hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle: design review EPC tender specification FAT SAT commissioning handover to operations.
Site basic understanding of construction phases and of OM actions preferably with previous direct experience in-site
Basic knowledge of industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus TCP/RTU IEC 61850 IECDNP3 OPC UA MQTT).
Hands-on experience with at least one major SCADA/PPC platform used in renewables overseeing hardware and software implementation.
Solid understanding of plant-level control (active/reactive power voltage/frequency response curtailment) and grid-code telemetry requirements.
Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity: IEC 62443 awareness NIS2 context segmentation and secure remote access.
Fluent in English and Portuguese; additional European languages are a plus.
Availability for regular travel to project sites.
Highly Valued Experience
BESS integration. Experience specifying and commissioning BESS EMS/PCS and integrating BESS into ancillary services or merchant dispatch.
Hybrid plant controllers. Experience with PVWind PVBESS or PVWindBESS plant-level controllers.
Wind SCADA. Exposure to WTG control systems and major wind OEM SCADAs.
Fleet consolidation. Track record onboarding heterogeneous operating fleets onto a unified monitoring and reporting platform.
Multi-TSO exposure. Grid code and telemetry experience across more than one jurisdiction.
Analytics and automation. Scripting in Python/SQL familiarity with time-series databases and cloud data platforms.
