JAVA Senior Engineer | Spring Boot, Microservices & Cloud

About The Opportunity

At BindWorks were looking for Mid-Senior and Senior Java Engineers to join high-impact engineering projects in Lisbon across domains such as financial risk electronic trading platforms referential data and control frameworks within leading international banking environments.

These are opportunities to work on production-grade business-critical systems building high-performance backend services scalable APIs streaming pipelines and distributed architectures with real business impact.

Youll collaborate with experienced globally distributed engineering teams in environments that value technical ownership clean code continuous learning and engineering excellence.

What You Will Do

• Design develop and maintain Java-based backend services batch jobs and REST APIs
• Build and evolve integration layers and data pipelines for high-throughput low-latency environments
• Contribute to the development of referential data risk margin and trading platform components
• Work with messaging and stream-processing systems for event-driven and real-time architectures
• Contribute to frontend development with Angular or React when applicable
• Participate in architectural discussions code reviews and Agile ceremonies
• Ensure code quality through unit testing integration testing and engineering best practices
• Collaborate with business analysts product owners and globally distributed engineering teams
• Support production stability L3 incidents and release activities when required
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation

What We Are Looking For (Required)

• 5 years of experience in Java backend development
• Strong experience with Java (8 / 11 / 17) and Spring / Spring Boot
• Solid experience designing and developing REST APIs and backend services
• Experience with relational databases and SQL (Oracle PostgreSQL Sybase or similar)
• Good understanding of multithreading concurrency and JVM internals
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Ability to collaborate effectively in international distributed teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluent English (written and spoken)

• Java 17 / Java 21 and Spring Boot 3
• Java SE core JVM Garbage Collection Memory Model concurrency utilities and performance tuning
• Low-latency and high-load system design
• Apache Flink or similar stream-processing frameworks
• Kafka RabbitMQ AMQP or similar messaging systems
• Angular 18 or React (frontend contribution)
• Microservices and event-driven architecture
• Docker & Kubernetes
• Cloud platforms: AWS Azure or GCP
• CI/CD pipelines and build tools (Maven Gradle)
• Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design
• Exposure to banking financial risk electronic trading or capital markets systems
• C# (advantageous for specific engagements)
• Shell scripting and operational tooling
