Job Summary
Hole19 is currently hiring a Product Designer to join their amazing team
About the company:Hole19 empowers golfers of all skill levels to perform their best. With over 5 million golfers using Hole19 in over 180 countries and thousands joining every month theyre one of the most-used golf apps on the market. The Hole19 product is the golfers best friend. They believe its because theyre genuinely passionate about building the best technology in golf. Theyre a tech company at heart but their mission is to get people outdoors active and passionate about sport. If building products that combine technology with an active lifestyle excites you youll fit right in. Their mission is clear: Empower golfers with tools. Engage them through community. Excited by experiences.
About the role: At Hole19 theyre building the app golfers actually open on the course: one hand on the club the other on their phone mid-round in direct sunlight. They have three subscription tiers onboarding flows that convert and retention loops that keep golfers coming back season after season. Youd be joining a small direct product team where designers own real work give honest feedback and ship things theyre proud of. Youll work closely with Product and Engineering challenge assumptions when something doesnt add up and see your decisions in production - in the pocket of someone walking the 14th fairway in Scotland Japan or California. If you want broad ownership direct collaboration and the satisfaction of designing something people genuinely use this is it.
What youll do:
- Design product features end-to-end: discovery flows wireframes high-fidelity UI prototypes and handoff
- Own research and discovery on defined problems: write the brief choose the methodology synthesise findings and turn them into decisions that influence the roadmap
- Contribute to and evolve their design system: components patterns tokens documentation
- Partner closely with iOS Android Web and Backend engineers: clear handoff design QA fast iteration
Key factors:
- Critical thinking. Youre past the learning the basics stage. You work autonomously on defined problems connect decisions to outcomes and challenge requests when they dont serve the user or the product. You frame the problem properly before jumping to solutions - thats where your UX rigour shows.
- UI craft. You sweat the details - typography hierarchy motion - but never lose sight of what the work is actually for. Modern style: clean current opinionated. Not generic SaaS.
- Mobile-first instincts. Youve designed for mobile not just translated web layouts. You understand touch one-handed use performance constraints and how mobile context (outdoors mid-task on the move) changes everything.
- AI fluent. You use AI deliberately - to expand whats possible not to replace your judgment. You have a clear point of view on where it helps and where it doesnt.
Requirements:
- 2 to 4 years designing digital consumer products (B2C) with shipped mobile features in your portfolio
- Solid UX foundations: flows IA interaction patterns usability
- Proficiency in Figma and working knowledge of design systems
- Comfort presenting design rationale tied to outcomes not just aesthetics
- Fluent in English
- Experience designing subscription or freemium flows (paywalls upgrade retention)
- Previous work on consumer apps with a strong community or engagement component
- Experience designing for Wearables (Apple Watch Wear OS) would be great
- Frontend execution (HTML CSS JavaScript) is a nice-to-have - useful for prototypes and design system contributions
- You dont need to play golf or even know what golf is about (although it helps a lot)
What they offer:
- An annual gross salary between 30K and 38K (depending on experience)
- A year-end bonus that can be up to 25% of the annual gross salary
- A great working environment within a small but growing team of nearly 40 who genuinely care about your wellbeing and professional growth
- The opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping shape the future of a company with proven traction that maintains its startup DNA as we scale to our next growth phase
- 28 vacation days bank holidays to truly disconnect and recharge
- Health insurance for you and your family
- Access to Claude for your day-to-day work - research writing design thinking whatever helps you move faster
- Flexible hybrid work - From Lisbon or Porto just 1 day/week in the office
- Gym membership to support your wellness
- Regular team meet-ups throughout the year
- Play golf on the job (because who wouldnt enjoy that!)
