ROLE SUMMARY:

The Head of Primary Physical Education provides strategic leadership management and direction for the Primary PE department. The successful candidate will inspire young learners to develop a lifelong passion for physical activity health and well-being. This role ensures the delivery of a high-quality inclusive and rigorous physical education curriculum aligned with British international standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the Primary PE department guiding teachers and coaches to ensure high-quality sports delivery.
  • Design and execute an engaging progressive Primary PE curriculum based on the English National Curriculum.
  • Deliver outstanding safe and inclusive lessons that cater to students of all fitness levels and abilities.
  • Oversee and organize major school sports events including annual Sports Days swimming galas and house competitions.
  • Coordinate a vibrant Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) sports program and manage school teams in inter-school fixtures.
  • Implement robust assessment frameworks to regularly track record and report on primary student progress.
  • Enforce rigorous Health & Safety protocols and conduct regular risk assessments for all sports facilities and activities.
  • Manage the department budget efficiently ensuring the maintenance and procurement of high-quality sports equipment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Physical Education Sports Science or a closely related field.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE QTS or equivalent certification) with a specialization in Primary Education.
  • Proven experience teaching PE in a primary school setting ideally within a British or international school environment.
  • Fluency in English (native or near-native level) with exceptional communication skills for dealing with students parents and staff.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire motivate a team and manage large-scale school events.
  • Deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection regulations requiring an unblemished criminal record check.
  • Dynamic and energetic professional who fosters an inclusive environment and a lifelong passion for health and fitness.
  • Global mindset and cultural sensitivity well-suited for integration into a diverse and multicultural school community.
