The AppCore team sits at the heart of Mollies Merchant Experience domain owning the foundations that every other engineering team builds on the mobile app the web portal and all the surfaces where merchants onboard manage payments and access Mollies services. When AppCore works well every team at Mollie moves faster.

As a hands-on Engineering Manager youll lead a small but growing team of skilled engineers defining and delivering the technical roadmap for our core application platform. Youll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams help shape the direction of our mobile and web foundations and represent engineering in key technical discussions. Your work will directly influence how hundreds of engineers across Mollie build test and ship making this a role with real visibility and long-term impact.

What youll be doing:

  • Lead and grow a team of frontend and mobile engineers bringing a hands-on leadership approach and staying close to the technical work

  • Drive the architectural direction of the mobile app and web portal with a focus on scalability long-term maintainability and developer experience

  • Own and improve the app release process accelerating release cadence and reducing friction across build deployment and release coordination

  • Champion engineering excellence across the platform raising the bar for testing automation localisation quality and code reliability

  • Foster a platform mindset within the team ensuring reusable patterns clean APIs and well-documented tooling that enable engineers across all domains to contribute without needing deep mobile expertise

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams across Mollie acting as a platform partner and representing AppCore in cross-domain technical initiatives

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the team and across workflows proposing and coordinating actionable improvements to velocity and effectiveness

  • Mentor and develop engineers creating an environment where craft ownership and continuous growth are valued

What you have:

  • Management Experience: 2 years of managing engineering teams with a proven ability to recruit retain and grow top engineering talent in a fast-moving environment

  • Frontend & Mobile Expertise: Significant hands-on experience with React Native and/or React with a genuine deep understanding of JavaScript fundamentals not just surface familiarity with the frameworks

  • Platform Thinking: A track record of building or maintaining products at medium to large scale where code quality reliability developer experience and performance genuinely matter

  • CI/CD & Release Ownership: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and app release processes including how builds deployments and release coordination work in practice

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead coach and mentor engineering teams. Excellent communication interpersonal and collaboration skills comfortable working across multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Product Sense: A strong understanding of product development principles and a customer-centric approach with the ability to balance platform needs against product team priorities

  • Bias Towards Action: Comfortable making decisions with imperfect information balancing speed and quality and learning quickly from outcomes

  • Always Be Shipping Mindset: Consistently delivering value to customers where speed and quality go hand in hand
