Overview
The Radiation Therapist provides treatment programs for all patients referred to Radiation Oncology; coordinates scheduling; provides patient education regarding procedures; greets physicians patients and families thereof with a friendly positive attitude; assist supervisor with quality assurance for Accelerators Simulators and other related equipment; assist in Simulations Block fabrication and preparation of charts and computer for treatment; observes radiation safety measures; writes and reviews patients progress reports including charting and reports to referring physicians
Key Responsibilities
**Graduate of an accredited Therapeutic Radiologic Technology program resulting in an Associate or Bachelors degree or Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program resulting in an Associate Degree and a Certificate in Radiation Therapy Required.
**Basic Life Support (BCLS) 1 year of experience as a Radiation Therapist required. Prepare and administer radiation therapy to patients according to the treatment plan

- Ensure accurate positioning of patients for treatment and minimize radiation exposure to healthy tissue
- Monitor and assess patients during treatment sessions reporting any adverse reactions
- Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment ensuring safety and quality standards
- Educate and support patients and their families about the treatment process and potential side effects
- Maintain accurate patient records including treatment plans progress notes and outcomes
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate in quality assurance activities to optimize treatment outcomes
- Conduct regular checks and calibrations of equipment to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
- Collaborate with the medical team to monitor and manage patient care and progress
- Stay updated on industry trends technologies and best practices for radiation therapy
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge
- Support and contribute to research initiatives and clinical trials related to radiation therapy
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
- Certification in radiation therapy from an accredited program
- Licensure as a Radiation Therapist in the state of practice
- Proven experience in administering radiation therapy in a clinical setting
- Strong understanding of medical terminologies anatomy and physiology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining radiation therapy equipment
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
