Indy Paws Veterinary Hospital is a familyoriented veterinary practice located in the Little Flower neighborhood outside of downtown Indianapolis. We are excited to offer the opportunity for a fulltime doctor to join our progressive practice.

The ideal candidate will be a selfmotivated energetic Doctor with excellent communication skills who is committed to building lasting relationships with our team clientele and the community. Our goal at Indy Paws is to provide consistent high quality progressive and individualized veterinary medical care for our patients.

About Indy Paws:
  • Busy general practice that sees a varied caseload daily
  • Appointments from 8:15 am to 5:45 pm MondayFriday
  • One or more surgery days (if interested) per week
  • Several local emergency clinics nearby requiring no afterhours/oncall
  • Alliance partnership with nearby hospitals allowing for referrals for advanced diagnostic procedures and collaboration in complicated cases
  • Small staff that are eager to learn: you can focus on being a Veterinarian.
  • Renovation of half the clinic in early 2018 adding a sterile surgical suite (with CO2 laser) treatment/prep area dog ward with separate cat area with updated break and laundry room; Plans to continue updating the building in upcoming years.
  • Practice best medicine utilizing our full Idexx inhouse laboratory and reference Digital Radiology Ultrasound (with realtime training builtin) and fully stocked pharmacy.
  • eVet cloudbased practice management and online pharmacy with Vets First Choice

Indianapolis is a bustling city known for the famous Indianapolis 500 car race! Indy Paws Veterinary Hospital proximity to downtown allows for easy commute to many great suburbs. There are numerous great public and private schools and local parks making it an ideal area to raise a family! Popular activities in the area include hiking or exercising on the 18mile long Monon Trail fishing or water sports on the local lakes or shopping at the many unique shops. We also have a growing foodie and brewery scene! Indianapolis is a wonderful place to enjoy a healthy and active worklife balance.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals (i.e. dogs cats birds reptiles etc. Candidate to confirm species treated with practice leadership for additional clarity.)
  • Client needs and work volume may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. This position may require special working hours including working weekends evenings and/or holidays.
  • Must have mental capacity and processes for reasoning remembering mathematics and language ability (reading writing and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately high. Ear plugs will be available upon request.
  • Job requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit stand walk stoop kneel crouch and climb as well as manipulate (lift carry move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good handeye coordination armhandfinger dexterity with the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hospital teammates are routinely exposed to a variety of animals that may bite kick or scratch and on occasion may be exposed to anesthesia radiation biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.



Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Current DEA License or obtained upon hire
  • Active Veterinary State License
  • USDA Accreditation or obtained upon hire
