Mass General Brigham: EDW Analyst
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Month Contract

Position Description:

The EDW Analyst is a critical member of the EDW Payer Data Integration team with responsibilities across various operational and development projects. The primary team operation is the monthly loading and certifying of member enrollment and claims data for ingestion into the Payer database. The Payer Data Analyst leverages internal QA dashboards executing preset certification rules to validate key data points identify trend irregularities and perform troubleshooting activities to certify incoming data content. These activities include writing SQL queries and conducting detailed data research and analysis to gain the insight and determine the corrective action. The Payer Data Analyst will also provide data certification for other operational jobs including Payer DataMarts PHM subject area DataMarts Provider data as well as internal and external extracts. On development projects the Payer Data Analyst will gather requirements from product owners to create and execute a test plan that certifies new or revised product functionality. The Payer Data Analyst interacts with a variety of Payer and PHM data assets and needs to be the subject matter expert (SME) to support Adhoc research requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform operational QA to certify content updates to Payer database and PHM data assets
  • Conduct root cause research and analysis to identify and debug complex data problems
  • Document summarize and present QA findings to Product Owners and data engineers
  • Assume ownership of data issues from origination to closure
  • Ensure certification and delivery of high quality data by service level agreement date
  • Recommend best course of action to remediate data issues
  • Write SQL queries to perform investigative data analysis discovery and research
  • Build relationships with team analysts and engineers to enhance team efficiency and velocity
  • Become a subject matter expert with data products and assets
  • Liaison with Payer and PHM users and analysts to resolve data issues
  • Create and execute test plans to support bug fixes tool upgrades and product enhancements
  • Follow team guidelines and policies to meet operational standards and metrics
  • Required Skills:

  • 3 years of professional data warehouse and/or data analytics experience
  • Experience analyzing healthcare data (preferably Payer claims) billing and/or clinical data
  • Knowledgeable in interpreting medical codes and related data points
  • Experience working an fastpaced environment supporting multiple projects with competing priorities and service deadlines
  • Professional experience with SQL SAS Python or equivalent SQL writing data analysis tools
  • Proven experience extracting data patterns and insights from large volumes of data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written verbal and especially listening)
  • Additional Skills Requested:

    • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills; ability to independently analyze quality control/test results and be confident with recommendations to resolve data issues
    • Strong rootcause analysis skills
    • Keen attention to detail
    • High regard for data quality and integrity
    • Curious and constant learner
    • Experience performing operational QA a plus
    • Experience working as a Business Analyst a plus
    • Experience working in environments where Agile Scrum practices a plus but not required
