COUNTY EXECUTIVE OFFICE
The County of OrangeCounty Executive Officeimplements policies of the Board of Supervisors supports County departments oversees the Countys infrastructure and real estate assets prepares the annual County budget manages the Countys public debt program and assists the public. The County Executive Officer is the highest-ranking appointed executive in the County and works with members of the Board of Supervisors and their staff elected and appointed department heads and the Countys 19000 employees to oversee the provision of essential government services through 22 departments. The County Executive Office is organized into six divisions: County Operations Finance Human Resource Services Information Technology Real Estate and Government & Community Relations.
THE OPPORTUNITY/RESPONSIBILITIES
The CEO Data Analytics Unit seeks a data engineer intern with a background in data reporting system design public-facing dashboard design and automation and data governance techniques to assist with multi agency and department projects within the County. The data engineer graduate level intern will be supporting multiple projects. Examples of potential projects may include countrywide budget book dashboards development OC Juvenile Justice Commission supporting various departments on data requests and management and working with OCIT on countywide data governance project.
The intern will be supervised by a Data Analytics Manager and will obtain necessary training related to data within projects (e.g. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Compliance Criminal Justice Information Services Compliance etc.).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This recruitment is open to applicants pursuing or graduated (within the last 6 months) with their bachelors or graduate degree. Candidates should have completed coursework pertaining toComputer Science Data Science Statistics Mathematics or related areas with a focus on software and data engineering.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Theintern will need to have the following knowledge and skillset to fulfill expected duties:- Strong experience with languages and programs such as but not limited to Python Java JavaScript Scala Power BI and SQL
- Proficiency in designing developing and automating dashboards
- Hands-on experience in cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake and AWS
- Ability to collaborate with staff within the CEOs office as well as within various agencies or departments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the data analytics team
TIME COMMITMENT
The internship is in Santa Ana California with no option for remote work length is 3 to 6 months with a commitment of 15-20 hours per week.
