Job Title: Validation Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on execution-driven Validation Engineer with deep expertise in automotive Infotainment and Connectivity sub-system validation. The ideal candidate will own the end-to-end validation lifecycle - from test case creation manual bench & VHIL-based execution to defect management and root cause analysis - ensuring robust software quality across features.

A strong emphasis is placed on VHIL environment utilization and test automation using tools such as Python CAPL C# dSPACE and CANoe to maximize test coverage accelerate execution and drive a measurable shift from manual to automated validation. The candidate will directly engage with global software teams and suppliers proactively manage GIM burndown communicate risks to leadership and continuously drive improvements in validation efficiency and quality.

Experience with HIL/VHIL test environments proficiency in automation framework development and a solid understanding of ASPICE ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 standards in an Agile-based environment are essential for success in this role.

Core Responsibilities

1) Validation Planning & Execution

o Define and maintain validation roadmaps in collaboration with subsystem and component validation teams ensuring alignment with software drops and key project milestones

o Own and execute validation activities across component subsystem and system levels in accordance with defined test plans and DVP&R documentation

o Plan and drive regression testing loops based on issue fixes feature changes and software drop content ensuring timely and thorough execution

2) Test Case Creation & Coverage Ownership

o Own the end-to-end creation of test cases derived directly from software requirements system specifications and DVP&R documentation

o Develop comprehensive test suites covering functional regression diagnostics IOD safety and security scenarios ensuring full traceability back to requirements

o Independently analyze requirements documents and translate them into structured executable test cases with clearly defined pass/fail criteria preconditions and expected outcomes

o Continuously evaluate and expand test coverage to eliminate gaps ensuring all feature changes new software drops and issue fixes are adequately covered by updated or newly created test cases

o Maintain and version-control all test case documentation in accordance with ASPICE and ISO 26262 compliance standards

3) Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis

o Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of GIM issues in direct collaboration with software development teams and suppliers driving investigations to accurate and actionable conclusions

o Own the documentation of RCA findings and drive the definition and follow-through of corrective actions

o Actively manage and drive down GIM inflow and outflow using burndown charts taking ownership of issue prioritization and validation loop planning

4) Continuous Improvement & Automation

o Proactively identify challenges within the validation process and independently design and implement improvement actions to enhance execution efficiency quality and resource utilization

o Develop and deploy automation solutions for diagnostics IOD (Ignition off draw) and safety security test coverage using scripting tools such as Python AutomationDesk(like) CAPL Automationand C#

o Drive measurable improvements in test execution throughput by reducing manual effort through targeted automation initiatives

5) Risk Identification & Mitigation

o Proactively identify assess and communicate validation-related risks and timing concerns to leadership with clear supporting data and analysis

o Own the development and execution of mitigation strategies to address identified risks and protect program timing

o Take initiative in resolving validation blockers escalating only when cross-functional decisions or resource allocation are required

6) Issue Reproduction Vehicle & Bench

o Reproduce customer issues on: Production vehicles Captive/internal fleet vehicles Bench/HIL/VHIL environments

o Validate software build levels vehicle configuration and variant coding

o Instrument vehicles with required diagnostic tools and capture relevant data logs for analysis

7) Log & Data Collection / Correlation

o Capture and analyze:

CAN/LIN/Ethernet traces

Radio and infotainment application logs

Bluetooth Wi-Fi cellular connectivity traces

System crash logs and boot events

Ensure traceability to SW versions Release timing Vehicle architecture

8) Returned Parts Analysis

o Lead technical analysis of returned infotainment and connectivity ECUs

o Extract logs and validate software/configuration levels

o Perform hardware inspection and electrical validation

o Compare failed parts to known-good units

o Coordinate deeper supplier failure analysis when required

o Determine if issue is:

Hardware defect or Software defect

Integration/configuration issue

Environmental/usage condition

Critical Skills Required

Advanced Sub-System Level Expertise

o Deep understanding of infotainment and connectivity architecture

o Hands on experience on Infotainment & connectivity Sub-system bench testing preferrably on STLA ECUs.

o Strong understanding of creation and review of DVP&Rs (Design Verification Plan and Report)

o Understanding of OTA update systems and software flashing processes

o Ability to distinguish hardware vs. software vs. integration root causes

Automotive Protocols & Standards

o In-Vehicle Networks: CAN LIN Automotive Ethernet

o Diagnostic Protocols: UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) OBD-II

o Communication Interfaces: SPI I2C UART

o Standards: AUTOSAR ASPICE ISO 26262 ISO 21434

Preferred Qualifications

o Experience with agentic AI frameworks (e.g. LangChain AutoGen CrewAI) for test automation and requirements processing

o Familiarity with HARA TARA methodologies and cybersecurity risk management tools

o Experience integrating camera-based OCR systems (e.g. Cognex) into HIL test environments

o Exposure to Android/ADB-based infotainment testing automation
