We are currently seeking a detailoriented Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting Department in Poughkeepsie NY. What Youll Do:

In this role you will be responsible for a range of accounting functions that support the credit unions daily operations and monthend processes. Your responsibilities will include:

• Process accounting transactions and documentation accurately and on time
• Handle debit card disputes unauthorized transaction claims and merchant inquiries.
• Communicate with members vendors and internal teams to resolve issues and gather required information
• Process ATM debit card settlements and wire transfers (incoming/outgoing).
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger (GL) accounts related to transactions and disputes.
• Post transactions to member accounts and ensure proper account coding.
• Research and resolve discrepancies with financial institutions and internal teams.
• Maintain organized records in compliance with data retention policies
• Provide backup support across accounting and bookkeeping functions

What Were Looking For:

• 13 years of accounting bookkeeping or financial operations experience preferred
• Associate degree relevant certification or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and transaction processing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer systems
• Experience working in a credit union or financial institution is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
